6th International Symposium on Dance
Under the auspices of IOV , NGO In operational relations with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization- UNESCO
The 6th International Symposium on Dance Research of Greek Dance Archives, was under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Education and under the auspices of IOV, NGO In operational relations with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization- UNESCO , has been accomplished in Ancient Corinthos .
The Symposium was honored and inaugurated by the presence of the President Mrs Carmen Padilla and of the delegations from 10 countries (Philippines, Austria, Holland, Cyprus, Israel, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Latvia, France and Greece), as well as by the participation of a great number of participants and attendants from every part of Greece.

Members of IOV and all the lecturers come from scientific fields relative to the dance, such us choreology, ethnomusicology, folklore, and sociology
Lectures about the influences on the traditional dance caused by the transition from the rural into the urban environment have also been given by the representatives of Cyprus, Latvia, Bulgaria, IOV Israel and France.
The dancing group “Dionysus” from Cyprus and 10 dancing groups from Greece also participated in the 6th International Congress.
In the evenings all the Symposium participants and visitors took part in the fests with local folklore orchestras.
During the Symposium there were exhibitions with traditional products, old photos, traditional costumes and other objects of folk art from Greece.
