A SUCCESSFUL TRADITIONAL EVENING IN BEAUTIFUL ALONISTAINA

The Association of Alonistaina, “Aghia Paraskevi”, “the Tripoli Center of Greek Dance” and the Mayor of Falanthos, Mr. Kostas Psiharis, organized for the second consecutive year, a successful “traditional evening” in historic Alonistaina on 29th November, 2008.

The organizers and residents invited many visitors to beautiful Alonistaina in the thick pine forest of Mainalon  at 1200m, and they have all experienced the warm  hospitality and lively communication of its people in the festivities, music and dancing of this magical second celebration  to welcome in the winter.

Traditional hot fasolada (bean soup), tsipouro and dishes and sweets were available all night long

The event was under the Auspices of “Greek Dance Archives” and IOV -UNESVCO.

The event took place  in the central square near the church of  Aghia Paraskevi in the beautiful, historic Alonistaina. A sacred and symbolic site, it is connected historically to Theodoros Kolokotronis who grew up there and who, using part of the spoils from the battle at Dervenakia, embellished the church of Aghia Paraskevi which he greatly revered.
