“ TRADITIONAL EVENING” IN HISTORIC ALONISTAINA TO WELCOME THE WINTER, ON 28th OF NOVEMBER 2009
Under the Auspices of GREEK DANCE ARCHIVES
The Association of Alonistaina, “Aghia Paraskevi”, “the KEXOT-Tripoli Center of Greek Dance” and the Honorable Mayor of Falanthos, Mr. Kostas Psiharis, are organizing for the third consecutive year, “A traditional evening” in historic Alonistaina to welcome the winter, on 28th of November 2009.
The event will take place in the central square near the church of Aghia Paraskevi in the beautiful, historic Alonistaina. A sacred and symbolic site, it is connected historically to Theodoros Kolokotronis who grew up there and who, using part of the spoils from the great battle at Dervenakia, embellished the church of Aghia Paraskevi which he greatly revered.
The Organizers of this event are looking forward to highlight aspects of the local culture, to rallying the local community and to broaden the communicative nature of the event, which will contribute to the initiation of the younger generations on the festive practices and values of the traditional society.
GREEK DANCE ARCHIVES in response to the request of the Organizers set the event under its Auspices.
The expression of desire to put this event in 2009, only under the Auspices of “GREEK DANCE ARCHIVES”, is associated with the acknowledgment that GREEK DANCE ARCHIVES, methodically indulges both on the dance practices within the customary limits of the traditional society and on its modern reenactments, which operate integrated in today\'s social reality.
The organizers and residents are inviting you all to join this traditional feast, a revival custom in beautiful Alonistaina, in the thick pine forest of Mainalon to welcome in the winter.
