VISIT TO HANIA
Mrs Pappa-Sevou, member of the Board of Directors of Greek Dance Archives, was recently at the beautiful city of Chania in order to coordinate the International Scientific Meeting and the Cultural Festival.
During her visit she was able to come into contact with many people and one of the most important meetings was with the Very Reverend Metropolitan Bishop of Kidonia and Apokoronos, Mr. Damaskinos.
She also had successive meetings with the Metropolitan Archiepiscopal Churchwarden, Archpriest Nektarios Christodoulaki, to discuss the scheduling of the Scientific Meeting and Cultural Festival and was shown around the spacious Metropolitan Conference Center.
Mrs Pappa-Sevou had the unique opportunity of being taken on tour and was able to admire the historical monasteries and churches of Saint Trinity Tzagarolon, Holy Monastery Chrysopigis, Metohi Agias Kyriakis, the impresive church of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul, the church of Agiou Nektariou Soudas and the historic Metropolitan Cathedral of Chania, “the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary”.
She was also shown around the old quarters of Chania, Koum Kapi, the big Venetian port, and the Firka Fortress where the Greek flag was hoisted in 1913 to mark the union of Crete with Greece.
Many places of accommodation and restaurants in Chania were also visited in search of the best hospitality for the conferences and participants.
It is important to mention at this point that the KIANI BEACH RESORT and KALYVES HOTEL are among the best in Crete. They are owned by the Papadaki family and are sponsors of the International Meeting and Festival in Chania. It is worth visiting the sites mentioned below to admire the buildings and grounds of these two hotel complexes
